BREEDING FOR PRODUCTION...EGGS AND OR MEAT.

That's np. I learned the hard way with hogs. They would try and scratch themselves and would end up sliced to ribbons. I ended up takig a torch and melting the edges.

You might be surprised how happy they'd be in a kiddie pool. A stock tank in the shade would be like heaven. I don't think Muscovies are so water dependent as many duck breeds. In fact, you have given me an idea... There is a place just about 40 miles that manufactures 2000 gal water tanks and I can get a couple of them pretty cheap because of defects. I think we are going to cut two of them in half, making a string of 12 feet long 'pools' that are about three feet deep and buried together length-wise.
Then have
the little stream/ditch diverted into them. That will make it very easy to have a shelter and water in an area that's very convenient for us. The ducks could be allowed to range during the day with little or no chance of getting into trouble. This breed is very good about going into their shelter during the evening and can be locked up for their protection from the wandering night dogs.

I'm always happy to inspire the imagination.

It sounds like a really neat idea. If you do it, would you post some photos of how it turns out?

Yes I will. There's already been a change of plans... maybe. We're thinking one tank might be enough but on the other hand....don't know how many ducks we'll ultimately have and don't know when or if we can ever get a deal like this again. Gonna' definitely pick up both tanks, that's for certain.

We will have to borrow our neighbors hoe to do this job because ours is just too small to get this done in a reasonable amount of time. If the hoe's owner 'aint too busy, he might dig the hole for us. Jason could certainly operate his tool but not nearly so efficiently as it's owner...we can always back fill and tidy up with our eqpt.

@gjensen - not to be an enabler, but I see that Metzer has one last ship day for American Buffs this year.

Yhey sure are cute babies. They have excellent customer support. Some of my questions,in hindsight were down right stupid.lol
I've been known to ask a stupid question from time to time. Sometimes they just have to be asked.
