BREEDING FOR PRODUCTION...EGGS AND OR MEAT.

The lack of faith in the grid is a big part of why I've been looking at caponizing cockerels.....so we can just process a bird when we need it....rather than having a bunch of birds in the freezer. Especially since we're going to New England. I remember the power outages everytime there was a big storm u.u

Small town living in the North East XD

Yep, we need wild bill cody and the pony express right?

As for the power grid, I have heard from those more geeky than I that the (so-called) "smart grid" software is nowhere near as secure as they make it sound. I'm glad my rural electric co-op is still doing analog meters, with a monthly visit from the meter reader in his bright yellow truck. That said, storm outages are common ... in fact, when the bantam broody was setting eggs, we had the power go out for a couple hours when she was on day 18 or 19 ... all I could think was, "I am so glad I'm using hens!"

Ha...I don't know about Cody but the Pony Express would have to be a major improvement over the postal service we now recieve in this area. I've been all over much of the world and don't remember any place that's worse in this regard.

Fortunately, the 'quality of Life' , at least for us far outweighs the lack of speed in mail delivery.

Jaws was not too scary for me. I watched it with friends while in High School--They laughed--there may have been canibus involved. Not me though. I was never into that.

You're a tougher man than I if you will get into the ocean surf and splash around like a wounded duck. lol

CHICKENS>>>>> I think my 2 year old NN hens should finally be coming home this weekend.

Depends on Turk's ability to kiss-up to his supervisor and get Sunday off for the return trip.

Here too. Fortunately, we're moving in september lol. The post office here is miserable. They only actually deliver mail about 50% of the time. The rest of it they say they were unable to deliver....to my empty mailbox

I suppose the system is rotten through the core. The PO still wants a tax put upon Internet Transmissions to help keep them afloat. If they were to get such a cursed law passed, they would just spend the money on pay hikes for the bloated bureaucracy and continue to raise rates every 9 months!!!!!!!

Ah...looks like Turk has wheedled his supervisor so he can have off Sunday. He should arrive here with the adult NN hens sometime around 3:30 AM, Saturday.
