We don't hunt (not even our own property) during season...too man nuts in the woods. We let our friends and helpers hunt our places and we just use damage permits to get venison for our freezers.
Being the neighborhood Nut has its perks. Zero visitors.
I am curious. Are our birds molting, have already, just started, or have not started yet?
Feyd the GLW rooster is having an ugly molt. Torpie the Wheatie Am from Luanne is starting to finally grow back some feathers now that I moved her in with the older Silkies (who are definitely doing their juvenile molt ... looks almost like snow in there). Bossy the other Wheatie Am from Luanne is now broody, so we put some fresh eggs from Tiny and the Flashy Girls and a couple from Spikey and the red broilers under her ... then needed to move everyone else out of the broody house because simple demon-possession is nothing compared to a hormonal hen. Bossy had even been "helping" Torpie molt. The mixed breed banties haven't shown signs of molt yet, but they ought to soon, as they came into lay for the first time last November/December to save us from store-bought eggs that shattered whenever I tried to crack them.I am curious. Are our birds molting, have already, just started, or have not started yet?
