BREEDING FOR PRODUCTION...EGGS AND OR MEAT.

Just stole this. Appears to be a hen that was late because needed coffee.

Four winged chicken, how delicious!!!

I am not too sure if I could eat a chicken with arms and hands that looked like that chickens.

Hellbender that's funny! Whoever did that did a good job photoshopping.
Fire Ant Farm, what's an Aloha chicken? And another question, how big are your single rooster paddocks?
It's an Aloha chicken with a naked neck!

(Sorry, couldn't help it). Aloha chickens are a project by @alohachickens that, as I understand, started because she loved swedish flower hens but there were none in the US (at that time). Essentially a lovely mottled chicken. There's a side project of Naked Neck versions - I got eggs from her from the breeding pen.

Regarding your question about my single rooster paddocks, well, I'm embarrassed to say that Tank's is just an electrical net fence (about 80 ft circumference) that is not plugged in (I know, I know - and he gets out every night to sleep own top of "his" girls' roof to boot) - he sleeps in this lame little PVC covered thing covered with HW cloth and a tarp (it's awful) - but he's doing ok and likes walking around his area and watching everyone and crowing and making his "little old woman" sounds (he's so weird). The SS, on the other hand, are really too cramped in their small coop NOT to let range all the time in a bigger area, so I needed to redo it ASAP. So I picked an overgrown area - they're going to mow the grass for me!

I am in the progress of building their forever home (tractor coop), so I'm temporizing. I'm afraid, though, that the SS can get out of ANYTHING. Little buggers...

Apoc is in a 6x10 tractor that WAS the NN tractor. He's got enough space and hanging feeder and waterer, I just feel sorry that I can't let him roam right now - he is a total houdini, and used to escape all the time (including a paddock that the other NNs DIDN'T escape out of), so he's locked in there for now. I will work out a more secure paddock for him so he can roam, but he's just going to have to wait until I take care of the others first... I hope to have a more thoughtful and intentional plan for solo roosters going forward, just got into a housing crisis (and then Tank started beating on Apoc, and Apoc was escaping and harassing the CL girls through the wire, and as Dumbledore was coming back outside after healing, I just had to separate them and lock him up). He didn't start crowing until I removed him from Tank's area. Now he's a big mouth. Oh well.

We have some hens that even figured out how to get underneath the electric fence!!!

I think I've finally encountered the final enabler I needed to push me towards hatching more eggs. One of our vendors called to "talk chicken" with me yesterday while I was at work. He wants to come out this weekend and buy some of my hens and pullets...the ones I've no intention of breeding...which means that along with the extra cockerels I'm continuing to cull, my flock numbers will have finally decreased to a level to permit me to perform another hatch.

Now I need to get busy setting up a breeding pen.
