And plus if there is nothing wrong with it I wouldn't eat it anyways because I know it was my pet not an egg machine or a meat bird so either way egg or meat birds I would kill it because it's a living thing and it deserves to live it's life just like us humans I would rather eat plants or die before I would kill one of my animals for food plus I wouldn't eat it because I know it was my pet and relied on me to feed and water it and then it's on my dinner plate

You do understand that this thread (not all of byc, but this specific thread) is about people raising chickens to eat, right?

That's nice and all, but it's kind of considered flaming to come to a thread about breeding chickens for eating them and post your feelings that are very against that topic. Of course, this is also a thread about egg production and breeding for that too, but since you breed silkies you're not really here for that either. So, this begs the question as to why you are on a thread created specifically about eating chickens, posting about how wrong you feel it is for you to eat a chicken?

O well hell ended asked me to post my thread on here to help get it going and I just never unsubscribed and I don't really plan to because I enjoy reading about chickens and other peoples opinions and I don't mean to be rude to anyone who finds my posts meaning forwards to anyone I just hope no one took my posts to there own flock u can do what ever u please with ur flock

No...we would like very much for you to stick around. This is exactly the kind of thread you need to be reading if you are going to be keeping care of a living, breathing animal and it depends upon your care to live a good life.

Well, my main focus is not for meat, but eggs. I don't have a problem with eating my chickens, just don't do it that often, as long as they are producing. By the time they aren't producing, they can be pretty tough! Even keep the roosters for breeding, unless I don't like their looks or temperament. That being said, this weekend I will be doing some extensive rooster culling, just because I'm getting too many, and the lesser specimens gotta go.

That being said, a sick chicken is a whole 'nother story. If it has a problem that can't be fixed or cured by me, I will put it down just to end it's suffering. I wouldn't eat it if it was some kind of unknown disease, though.

Ya my neighbors they are menonitte really nice people tney butcher all there chickens every 2-3 years to fill the freezers
