BREEDING FOR PRODUCTION...EGGS AND OR MEAT.

I would like to join. We have our birds for multi-purpose reasons. Egg production, meat and we just enjoy having them around.
In addition to our chickens we have turkeys as well.
We breed for birds that are multi-purpose and that are fun to be around. No aggressive roosters, and no nasty hens.

Welcome!!!!!

!! It is always fun to have new folks join!
Do you incubate or broody hatch?
What breeds are you using for egg production?
In the past I have incubated, but I just did a broody hatch and it turned out great and was so much easier.

I have a mix of hens black sex link, buff orpington, EE's, a leghorn mix, an Americauna, and a couple mixed red hens. I only have one rooster a Buff Orpington. If I hatch out cockerels they are fryers, I like the buff roo because he is so gentle.

Here are a few of my flock.

I have to say that the Black sex links and the Buffs are great layers, averaging at least 5 eggs per week. My leghorn mix hen is right behind them 4 to 5 eggs per week.

Just googled naked neck broiler out of boredom, found a lot more than I figured, I have read some of it before, but found a lot more real studies on the NN. Most of it redundent, same one's just on other sites etc.
This site I found quite interesting, much of the same references but with more of the immunity/health aspects of them. Now I see more...I'll probably be reading half of the same stuff just to get a few new tidbits...
Pretty interesting IMHO

The buffs are great...so sweet my Buff hens are like puppy dogs. Thanks for sharing your buff roo with me.
