Breeding for YELLOW legs

I don't know the ins and outs of the genetics behind this but I am going to speak from experience with Black and Blue rocks.

With my blue and black bantams I struggle with leg color as well. Some chicks come with better color and other worse. The males are usually better than the females on any day. However what I have seen is when I place lots of emphasis on leg color on the blacks, and get nice brigth yellow on them I tend to lose the undercolor on the birds. This then relates to the top color on the blacks not being as black as I would like. This is true also in black wyandottes which face the same problem. So I do my best to get yellow legs but I really don't want it to become a problem for the undercolor of the bird.
