I didn't see that part, missed it on my first reading.
I'm curious now to on what they meant by saving. Unless they bought the birds legally then it's okay. Hope they didn't thieve the birds.

If you have American Silkie Bantams, then those are pretty dumb, I've got a couple.

If you get Chinese Silkies they lean more in the way of a kind of an Aseel, & can get upto 5lbs, also are smarter.

Woah, nice! Makes sense. I have seen that Japanese ones are more like conventional american egg layers in personality. I wonder if there are Chinese ones in TX.

TSC sells the Chinese Silkies, which are sold as Bantams in the bantam bins.

Game breeding is very popular in my area because, infamously, there's fighting rings nearby; people breed game roosters in order to fight them - I saved them from this fate!

Not sure how you got to that I bought them, saving them from the fate that game birds in my area usually have

Hello world! I came across a breeder of powerful game chickens, bred for combat, and decided to save them. I always admired how strong they were and how amazing and sharp their survival, foraging skills were.

On the opposite side of the spectrum is the humble silkie, which are comparatively delicate and have the survival instincts of a cardboard box. I figured with their broodiness, they'd make excellent hybrids with game chickens: Super Silkies.

Thus I am set on the journey of Mendelian breeding: I got the game rooster [Kelso] with the female silkies and the silkie rooster with the female game hens [Mel Sims, Black Jab Asil Pumpkin Husley Cross, Grey Toppy, and others] in two respective clans. I happened upon a Sussex × Silkie Cross + White Leghorn × Silkie Cross pair, so I bought them - this is my third clan.

I can't wait to engage with anyone interested in learning more. Anyone do this type of thing?
