I'm new to breeding and I want to breed my new pair of mallards but I have no where to start!! I'm from Louisiana if that matters. When's breeding season? Do they lay year round? Please give me as much info as possible bc I'm clueless!!! Thanks!!

Breeding season starts in the spring...Your Hen will begin to lay eggs and build a nest...The Drake will become very hormonal and breed the Hen many times a day..He will fight off any other Drakes also...Once your Hen lays a clutch of eggs she will begin to set them. Once a Hen begins to Brood it takes 28 days, give or take a day to hatch....
Best of luck....

so in about march? And also I have many different breeds in the same breed. Should my mallards breed?
No, if you have different breeds together they will mate at will and you could get any kind of mix in the ducklings. If you want purebreds you are going to have to keep the breeds separate in the breeding season. For mallards you will need a covered run or to clip their wings to keep them from flying away.
