How old was he?

He was 7months old, I used him for some f-2 eggs before I eat him, he was over 8 lbs after he was processed, he was the size of a small turkey, had good breast, and like you said, his legs and thighs we massive.
If you can raise a broiler to breeding age, then I suggest this cross for sure. You have to keep parent flocks but they lay great too, I get eggs all most 3 oz. From the RIRxCX hens and they lay almost every day. The DC I used was no show bird by any means but he grew fast and got huge. I have his son over the hens now.
