Hey everyone! It’s chick season and I work at my local feed store so of course I bought some more chicks! I went ahead and got two mystic marans and looking at them now I think I grabbed a roo and a hen. I know this is a hybrid breed so I’m just curious if I decide to breed them in the future for more maran babies will those also be mystic marans? and will their eggs still be dark, or will they potentially be darker? Basically if I breed them I’m going to sell them and I want to know what to market them as

No. Mystic marans are a hybrid cross between a marans rooster and a barred rock hen so they won't breed true. It's a sex linked cross resulting in barred male chicks and non-barred females. Males could pass barring on to 50% of their offspring regardless of whether the chicks are male or female.

Neither of your chicks have barring on their wing feathers that have come in, so they are both female.
