Hey guys, I’m not quite sure exactly which forum is the best to post this, so I’ll try here.

Right now I have four breeding pens set up for my birds with 10x10 dog pens and a coop in each one. However, I have some growouts that I’m going to need to move soon and want to change my breeding pens.

I was wondering if you guys could post pictures of your breeding coops and pen set-ups. How big are they and how many birds do you keep in each one? Do your birds stay in the pen the whole time or do you let them free range?

Thank you

I assume you know that if you let them out to free range, you should only let one group out at a time--if the hens mate with another rooster while out, their eggs might have a different father for up to 3 weeks.

Size of breeding pens would be affected by how many birds are in there--a pair or trio doesn't need as much space as a dozen hens with a rooster, for example.

In general, I'd say a breeding pen should be the same size as any other pen/coop/run you'd use for that many birds.

Sorry I don't have any pictures (no breeding pens, therefore no photos of breeding pens.)
