Breeding Pen Size?

I'm finalizing my plan for the coop and I want to incorporate a breeding pen in the design. Is 12'x4' big enough. I have large breeds. How do you lay it out with nest boxes and roost? Do you just put them in at night together or what? Any advice or PICS people have would be great!

Check Jody's coop. The username is hinkjc, they are one of the mods. It is divided into pens.


I think they stay seperated at all times. I read somewhere a hen can stay fertile for like a week....​
