Anyway, thinking way ahead, is it better to breed a standard roo with a batam hen or a bantam roo with a standard hen or does it really matter?

Well thats a hard question, because if a standard roo is with bantam hens, he might hurt them when he's breeding. But if you are breeding a bantam roo to a standard hen, he might be too small to do the rooster dance with her! Haha I can just picture him on his tip toes trying to reach XD

I was *lucky* enough to witness my d'Anvers roo (1lb) with my standard BR girl.. LOL! Well, he grabbed her head.. and made contact somewhere mid-wing. It was pretty pathetic.. and I think I laughed the rest of the day.

But now he seems to have changed his technique. Last attempt he didn't bother grabbing her head, and seemed like he managed, or at least came close. Where there's a will, there's a rooster willing to figure out HOW.

I also would be worried about a standard sized roo with bantam girls. I'm sure it's possible.. but there is a squash factor there.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I'd love to see that. I might have to throw my bantam rock out with the big girls and see what happens XD I'll have to video tape it, that's some funny stuff

LOL!!!!!!!!

I was worried about the "squash factor too". Guess I'll just experiment and see what happens. If nothing else it sounds like it will be good for a laugh. Thanks!!!!
