Hello everyone! Is it possible for my silkie rooster to mate with my golden comet and red star hens since he is smaller? Also if it is possible, will I be able to hatch those eggs out?

Yes very possible, infact they will do it even if you dont want...

and guess what? you will have Sex links.... you will be able to tell gender at hatch.

Very cool! I can't wait to see what they will look like...I have a long way to go though I'm still waiting for them to lay their first eggs!

how will they be sex linked?? a sex link is a one time breed and you cant breed them to one another or another chicken and get a sex link

dermal inhibitor Id or its recessive counter part id+ are sex linked(one of many sex linked genes) the rooster carry id+/id+ and the hens carry Id/Id the pullets from this cross will be id+/-(the sign "-" means a void sinse hens can only have one copy of any given sex linked gene because they only have one Z chromosome they are ZW and boys are ZZ, and sex linked genes are located on the Z sex chromosome) the boys from this cross will be Id/id+

Well it turns out I didn't have to wait long after all. This morning we found an egg in our nesting box! My 7 yr old was so excited he could hardly speak! I'm guessing it was either from my red star or golden comets because it was brown. Although it was a lot smaller than I thought it would be, but I'm just happy they started laying!
