Hi all, I'm going to do a taboo and post a Q without a search, my apologies, but it's a pretty specific question to a situation.
I have 7 roosters and have been desperately trying to rehome them. In the meantime a good friend just completed a coop and would like me to hatch 3 eggs for her to take home day-olds the 3rd week of August (to join several ordered from a bigger hatcher to be picked up as day-olds that week).
I got a response today from someone who wants all 7 roosters (I won't let myself consider their likely fate
). My GLW roo and hen are proven breeders and I am going to incubate 3 eggs August 1st.
The question is, if I hand over my roosters will the hen reliably lay fertile eggs for 3 weeks (I think I read this before)? Is the viability of the eggs, a week after removing the roo dependable, or is it a gamble?
