I have a pair of African Toulouse that were bought last spring. She is laying eggs now and has built a huge nest in the hut and sets on it part of the time and covers it up when she leaves.... The Jumbo Pekin is also laying her eggs in it and setting on the nest but also just part of the time.... There are no feathers or down around the eggs yet so I removed all but one and marked it. Will they share or will one of them finally set and hatch the eggs soon? The gander is being very protective too. Also wondering if he is fine to stay with her when and if she hatches any? I just hatched two Pekins in my incubator but lost most of them. (started with 14) So I really dont want to incubate again. Just hoping the goose or duck will set. I also have a pair of Welsh Harlequins. This is my first year to have adult birds and try to breed them....

Your geese and ducks are lovely, from what I understand an i hope I am right on this, [since my goose has been only sitting on hers at night] is they will build a clutch first so since you have removed the eggs they will start over. Best to mark the eggs and leave them, when they fill they have enough then sitting begins, take out oldest eggs dirtiest ones, and let them keep the number you want to to hatch. Some folks have Pekins that will sit, but I'm thinking your goose will go first. and your gander will be fine with the goslings/ducklings he'll treat them all as his own.
