Hello, I have a 7-8mo old Silkie Roo that is very brutal with his ladies. I found a young hen dead about a month ago, had another injured beyond repair and this am, I witnessed him breeding a young hen and now, she is injured and can barely walk.
Needless to say, I removed him today. I did not realize it was him until I witnessed his brutal breeding today
Can he cause nerve damage when he is breeding them causing them to be crippled?
I feel a bit responsible, maybe he was to old for them although he is only a few months older.
When you put your birds in a grow out pen, you don't know Roos from Hens in a Silkie until they Crow or lay a egg, so how could I avoid keeping Roos and Hens together during that time. Feeling sad and confused
