I just got my first trio, it's an opal cock and two Black brassie hens(these hens are out of a very good Andy Barnes BBred cock, per breeder)that are split for Opal. These are my first and although the breeder was telling how rough he looks and isn't in show condition, I think he looks awesome. They are still in quarantine and I don't have any pics yet. The crow is definitely a LOT different than my ameraucana, the kids laugh everytime he crows

I have met the man that developed the opals.He lives in Oklahoma.What are you planning on breeding for with the brassy and opal cross?

well, from what I understand, this breeds like lav. So an opal cock x brassy(split opal) hens will give me about 50% opal chicks. I am hoping to get some more opals

. I just like the color and love different things, haven't made any plans past that.....yet
