I just stopped recently so they would be in show condition. And so I could breed everybird by next Febuary and March, they mature in six months.

Hello all, I'm on pigeon talk but check out these threads. Had to register to say this: Please re-think breeding during the heart of winter! The chances of your squabs dying are MUCH higher. If you were down south it would be a different story.

I go back and forth about breeding in the winter.
The weather is the issue, but Im in Missouri and we already have crazy weather.
Today was 82 degrees and tomorrow the high is only 50, so I figure the pigeons can already handle bad weather,lol

i just moved out to phoenix this year, i lived in st.louis for 18 years. Yes the pigeons can handle the cold, but the squabs can not! At about 5-8 days of age the adults can hardy cover the squabs which have zero feathers to keep them warm. People who breed during the winter either heat there loft or have heat lamps. The pigeons may or may not even breed. Im stopping soon and will pick up in the fall. Its not a problem for me since even in the dead of winter i still have highs in the 60 and very seldom hit 32 degrees, if but only for a few hours.

I have heat lamps I could use.
But Im not even sure I want to breed yet.

I found 2 eggs last week.

My pair of blue bars laid about 5 days ago.I use a heat lamp in the colder monthes and my breeder pens are in a barn.
