CrestCrazy, I would advise you to keep meticulous records of what each of your hens lay(provided you had a way to separate them), and the ones that don't lay consistently, don't use those birds when breeding towards your speckled eggs. Let us know how it turns out. I don't see why your idea would not work. Good luck...
