Just bubbling with excitement for my upcoming spring hatch over here (got to have something to look forward to during the long, cold winter!)

I’ve ordered:

7 legbars (breeder specializes in crele but also has opal and cream)
5 mosaics
6 Swedish flower hens
6 marans (she has black, blue and splash so it’ll be a surprise what I get!)

I currently have silverudds, french black copper marans and a few girls who are definitely mixed with other things. My current girls came from a farm that is trying their best for pure bred but not quite there lol, these hatching eggs are from a very reputable local breeder.

Anyone have any feedback or personal experiences to share regarding my hatching eggs breeds? I’m pretty excited for them to arrive and hatch.

If you read the posts here about incubating Black Copper Marans eggs many of them recommend lower humidity right till lock down. It seems that Marans eggs have smaller pores and a thicker bloom so they lose water more slowly. If you can candle them you will see an air sac in the rounded end of the egg. It has to be big enough so the chick can breath prior to pipping a hole in the shell. Best luck

Thank you, that is good to know!

Those eggs don’t arrive till end of Feb. I have 6 bielefelder eggs arriving likely tomorrow. Added these on after since I was too excited to test out my incubator!
