Breeds? (need help)

My two goslings are much friendlier and affectionate than the ducklings. They are very mild mannered and are rarely in a hurry. One of my runner ducklings has decided to pull out the feathers on one of my goslings even though the gosling is twice her size. I'm chucking the runners in with the older ducks tomorrow and let them sort it out. I think if I would have gotten the goslings first I would have ended up with much fewer ducks.

And yes, the gosling poop is huge and copious and dries hard as cement if you don't wash it down everyday. My two like to splash their faces in their waterer which makes a mess.

I chose American Buffs as a goose breed because a sweet temperament is one of their hallmark traits. Plus, they're gorgeous! I have two setting geese now and one (bored, lonely) gander. They're 14 months old. They have OPINIONS about me approaching their nesting areas, but a soothing word really seems to reassure them. The girls are even letting the ducks wander through that part of the pen now without much complaint.

The downside to the lack of aggression might be that we now call my gander (Murphy) Mr Mall Cop... he just doesn't do authority very convincingly. One of these days he's gonna get tired of me laughing at him, and throw his walkie-talkie at me

Oh, other goose downsides: they don't eat bug pests. Also their eggs aren't as rich. They pretty much taste like chicken eggs.

One more goose plus is that they love eating grass - they keep my orchard trimmed in the summer, although they can't quite keep up with the spring grass -- my lawn is so plush now that it is hard to mow . . . I think some ducks and some geese is the perfect combination . . . ducks are the hardest in the brooder -- once you get them outside, especially if you can move around their enclosure so they aren't always in the same area, the mess is pretty much under control - at least for me since we have so much grass. You do have to dump their kiddie pools daily though . . .

American Buff's are great geese -- I have two laid back ganders and one menace . . . so personality wise you can still come up with a problem goose.
