Breeds no farm flock should be without

I'm new to site, but been around chickens all my life. For me, you have to have the following. RIR, Buff Orps., Golden Comets, and Barred Rocks. This is group that I have now and wouldn't change a thing about them.

X3 !!! We have Buff Orpingtons,Black Australorps, Silver-laced Wyandottes and Welsumers. We will not have any more Wyandottes after these two are gone. The jury is still out on the Welsumers as we got these three a bit older but not yet laying and they are not as tame as the chickens we raised from day-old chicks.

As long as we keep laying chickens we'll always have Buff Orps and the Australorps. They are just easy chickens to have around,very sweet and great layers. We could not ask anything more than that!

I currently have White Rocks, Barred Rocks, Partridge Rocks, Black Aussies, RIRs, Speckled Sussex, New Hamps, Red Stars.

I have had in the past all of the above, plus Buff Orps, Blue Orps, White Leghorn, EE, Dominiques(pronounced Domineckers in my area

), Black Stars(production blacks), Brahmas and Silver Wyandottes.

Welsummers, Delawares, Marans and Barnevelders. Yes I have all of these breeds.

Life without the egg songs and beautiful terra cotta colored eggs from the Welsummers would be very sad, IMO, also the roosters are gorgeous eye candy.
