deceivingly cute

My grandpas mom and dad had two thousand white leghorns and dominques in the 50's and my grandmas parents had probaly 200 or more dominques and rhode island reds.

My mother always had flocks of Dominique when I was growing up...

Her and my grandfather raised a meat bird back in the 40s and delivered them butchered to restaurants but I don't know what breed...

My family raised these breeds on my Pappaw's farm while I was growing up there:

White Leghorns, Rhode Island Reds, New Hampshire Reds, Doms, Barred Rocks, Black Minorcas, and a few kinds of Old English Bantam breeds:
I love mutt breeds!

my grandparents kept white leghorns , RIR and Dominikers.
Thanks for sharing those old photos I've really enjoyed them.

My dad had several different breeds a couple of times. He likes White Leghorns which he calls White Leggers cause of the white eggs. My Papa {Dad's dad} also had a variety of chickens that he keep in a coop & run. My Grandma {Dad's mom} has told me her family kept "Dominikers". My Mom loves RIR's cause that is what her father raised & loved {He passed away when I was a little over a year old}. Granddad {my Mom's dad's father} had I think every breed there was. Grandad loved his chickens and they had nest but they roosted in the trees. His rooster was absolutely the most beautiful rooster I ever saw. You know whats funny~they would all laugh at the incubating eggs instead of letting the hen take care of it. I can hear my Granddad laughing at me hatching the eggs out in the incubator.
