These have been floating around an area near my house for a while. I thought they might be Rouen, but not sure. Anyone got an idea? I think they might be a little big for mallards.

When we lived next to the water, we always had 2 or three mallards that would hang around even after everybody else left. They enjoyed hangin' with our ducks and geese, plus they got free meals!

No Mallards are supposed to stay year round, if they stay passed the time when other leave they are either caught and killed. The FWC (Florida Wildlife Commission) made this law to protect the Florida Mottled Duck from mallard interbreeding.

*Edit, so if they are still here by the end of the month...

I doubt that they got the memo that they aren't supposed to stay.....I don't think they give a hoot about a man-made law. They're staying because they think it'll make a nice nesting area.

We have lot's of migratory birds including waterfowl that that stay in our area year round because they like it. The populations dwindle, but there's always some that remain.

They look just like my mallards. They could BE my mallards. Wish I had some pics of them on this laptop.
