So does that mean my hens can lay an Easter egg crossbreed? Sorry if this is a ridiculous question. I'm super new at the breedingI believe he's an Easter Egger. Am I right, @Allyyyyyyyy?!
I don't think yours is an Easter Egger. My guess is yours carries a light brown egg laying gene. Most Easter Eggers have pea combs and carry blue egg laying genes (that's what they are bred for anyways.)So does that mean my hens can lay an Easter egg crossbreed? Yeah, I guessed Marans just because of the comb. It's definitely not a true straight comb, though. Brahma is a good guess based on body type. The OP's bird is some type of wyandotte. Either a golden laced or partridge.
The other bird posted is most likely a Brahma variant.
Hey so I have 2-1 month olds, a 2 week old, and a 36hr oldI don't think yours is an Easter Egger. My guess is yours carries a light brown egg laying gene. Most Easter Eggers have pea combs and carry blue egg laying genes (that's what they are bred for anyways.)
Easter Eggers aren't a true breed, they are a hybrid, so there's no standard type for them. My guess is hers is a Marans cross, so possibly an Olive Egger, but not sure if he carries any blue egg genes or not.
@Allyyyyyyyy have you raised any of his chicks to see what color eggs they lay? Just curious. Thanks!
Where'd you get them? Were you able to tell what color the bottoms of the feet of the 1mo old black pair had?Hey so I have 2-1 month olds, a 2 week old, and a 36hr old
I'll attach pics of each of them below
So I actually incubated these from my flock I'll put pics below of my flock....silkies not included as of course I know these were not from silkies eggsWhere'd you get them? Were you able to tell what color the bottoms of the feet of the 1mo old black pair had?
The blue 2 week old looks like it might be an Easter Egger.
The youngest is possibly a mixed breed--it might be easier to guess once it's a bit older.
