Breeds sticking together

That theory probably has some truth to it. Mine stick together in one flock but they used to roam the yard according to breed as well. Just a few weeks ago as a matter of fact. But now they are a tight knit group regardless of breed.

Hi All. My 2 Ees Hang And Sleep Near Each Other, And My Buff Orp. And Barred Rock Do The Same. Still Just Kids 1 Month Old.waiting To See When They Get Older.jim

I have two groups who I just integrated. The originals (3months old) a BO, a blue orp, a BSL and a blue ameraucana. They all hang out together. The second batch consists of a black orp and a splash orp, 2 red EE's and a BR. I just noticed that the 2 orps rest on one end of the perch, the EE's sleep together in the nest box(one is croippled and can't perch) and the littlest (5 wk old) BR perches in the middle of the big girls!

I read somebody did a study on chickens and realized they do hang out by color. I don't know if it has anything to do with safety in numbers and camouflaging in a group but my chickens do it too. They are about 12 weeks old but miss anyone who is missing regardless of color.

Found out 3 of my 8 are male so I guess I'll be finding them a new home. I wonder how long the others will miss the boys?

Someone had a great photo a couple months ago on here. All the white birds were on one roost, the buffs on the other. Mine hang by breed. The blr splash wyandottes hang with the gold laced. Welsummers and EEs have their own cliques, too.
