Breeds that you LOVE!

If I were to base my decision on looks alone, I would have to go with my Welsummers....but if I base my decision on variety, eggs and personality..........I would have to say my Marans!

Marans (not Cuckoo) Ameraucanas (not Easter Eggers, sorry) Araucanas, Shamos, Brahmas, Madagascar Game, Crested Polish, Turkens, and Salmon Faverolles.

I love my RIR and mutt chicks I got from them. I love the barred rocks and DESPERATELY WANT some Buff Orpingtons. Next I'll get colorful layers... WOOT! This addiction thing is serious business.

I've always heard they were really agressive, but I guess it depends on the line you get.

I love Cornish. I love that the hens are fanicer patterned than the roos. You never see a Tread-Bare Cornish hen, when they aren't in the mood--Whack! they give the rooster a glare and a peck. I like a girl who stands up for themselves! I also like how gentle they are, they look very formidable--but they are super sweet, calm birds.

I'm really starting to love MGBs. They are like tiny, tall Cornish to me. A little more attitude, and the hennies talk, talk, and talk when you hold them. I like training them to stand at station, they take it so seriously!

I love my bantam salmon faverolles, they are so funny and friendly!
I also love my Maran chicks, they are gentle, quiet and well mannered breed.
Now I have orpingtons and ameraucana eggs in the bator, I am sure I will love them too

Delawares, at this point. That is due to their extreme friendly nature. They are like lap puppies! I have several other breeds, and I like all of them, but for different reasons. Some for beauty, some for egg production, some for egg colour, etc ....

Polish!

And Dutch!

My Dutch are the most awesome chickens I've ever had, personality-wise. My hen will jump into my hand if I reach into her cage, and would ride around on my shoulder forever if I let her (chatting in my ear the whole time! So funny!). They are just incredibly full of personality, and in such a little package! My Polish are nice birds, too, and I really just think they're gorgeous.

I also really like my Wyandottes. I have a trio of BLR, and besides being beautiful, they are nice, calm, easy-going birds. Just plain nice birds to have around. I also breed Marans & Ameraucanas, and while I have my favorite individual birds in these pens, as a whole I'm beginning to not be a fan of either of those breeds, for various reasons.
