Have not done it personally yet (family doesn't agree with it and it's their roof) but I do know it's a weight size not an age for when to caponize. I believe it's about 2 pounds? Otherwise the bits are too small to see and take out properly
it seems like it is fairly common outside the USA...not sure why. a lot of meat animals get castrated. my only guess is that the birds that get raised most commonly now for meat get harvested between 6-10 weeks. i am going to caponize some of them and then compare the taste of caponized vs not. we’re harvesting at about 4.5 months. if the taste is no different, why waste the time? ;)

That is the main reason. No point in caponizing something that you'll butcher at 2 months old. Plus cornishX already get bigger and softer than other male birds the same age would
