Brewers "grain" - can you feed?

We have a friend that brews his own beer and has the "used" grain/hops that he brings over to put into our compost pile. Could I feed this the my girls with no problems or should I just let be compost?

You can feed it, just make sure they're eating other stuff too.

Thanks! He just dropped off two 5 gallons buckets of this stuff so I put one into the compost barrel and the other I will give out as treats a little at a time!!
