Hi! My 4 year old GLW just started having VERY yellow poo. I noticed it yesterday morning around her vent feathers. It’s shockingly yellow. I’ve seen EYP poo and infectious type poo but this seems different. She is laying eggs just fine. Every day or every other day, however a few weeks ago she had a laying hiccup. She had what looked like egg white coming out of her vet with a deflated like egg shell. She has laid normally since that hiccup and continues to lay normally. Her behavior is normal.. eating, drinking, free ranging. Any thoughts on this? Could it be some yolk that somehow was misfired? I have calcium tabs but didn’t give her because she laid a perfect egg yesterday with no issues. I also have fish amoxi and 3 shots left (from another girl) of LA200. Should I do any of those things? Here is a poop pic from just this morning. Sorry to those of you enjoying breakfast. This is Hazel sitting on my lap right now ☺️

What are you feeding this hen? Anything with a lot of carotene? The poop appears to be well formed, not runny, so it's of minor concern at this time.

For the collapsed membrane egg, you definitely should give a calcium tablet for a couple of days. It can't hurt, and the upside is a net gain.

Since her behavior and egg laying are mostly normal, I wouldn't resort to an antibiotic at this time. But do keep watch for any signs of abnormal behavior and abnormal poop and eggs.

This is very helpful! Thank you! She does get veggies as a treat which could be high in carotene! I will stop that immediately! When she had that weird collapsed egg we did calcium for a few days and she seemed to be fine. Thank you for your advice! ☺️🐓

She should be fine now on her calcium levels. But if she again produces a membrane egg, do a couple days of calcium again. It's not anything to worry about. Some hens have spotty calcium absorption. Calibrating her calcium levels if she shows signs of shell issues is simple "maintenance" to avoid worse problems down the line.
