Generally speaking when a rooster is working he" lives-in" with his girls. I have large groups of some birds and smaller groups of others. I always have a roo with a group. At certain times of the year more or less of the chickens can range. Right now many of the larger outdoor pens are occupied with geese brooding eggs or turkey groupings. By summer the geese will be on pasture and all the chicken groups will be living in larger quarters.
