Brinsea 20 eco egg rail/humidity question

When I place the eggs in the Brinsea Eco w auto turner do I make the eggs fit snug between the rails where the rails are touching both sides of the egg firmly or can I leave a tiny bit of room for the eggs to move? Can I place the eggs on their side? I have both wells filled with water and my humidity is only at 40%. To make the humidity go up when it's lock down time should I use a sponge? Any tips?

You will fill it so that there is a little room... Here is mine with 12 eggs in it. I generally put a wash cloth under the tray and push it down into the wells.. If you have the room, you can put a sponge in a tupperware container.
