I think my hygrometer is totally messing up!!! I just got my octagon 20 Eco and put my hygrometer in with one tray of water filled.the hygrometer read 0%!!!!! If anyone else has a brinsea, what did y'all hygrometer say when you filled one tray??

Did you calibrate the hydrometer? I have the same model...it's probably around 30 or so with one container filled. It sounds like your hydrometer's not working right...

Thank you sooooo much for responding!!!! I just got the incubator yesterday. I live in louisiana so the humidity might be different but what did your hygrometer say will both trays filled???

True where you are could effect it..I would think it would be higher in La though...

With both trays filled it doesn't go up much, maybe high 40's, low 50's...I use washclothes in the bottom at lockdown when I need my humidity up to about 60-65%.

Just keep one tray 3/4 the way full and that should get you by until you can go to the store and buy a new hygrometer.... I'm In Missouri and with one reservoir filled mine reads 35%... You need to get a hygrometer before lockdown to make sure humidity is not to much or to little at hatch time.... I drilled a whole in mine and put tubing through it that goes down into the reservoir so I don't have to open the bator to fill the troff... I just use a syringe and add warm water through the tubing... I'm sure that probably voided my warranty but I don't care as long as it makes for a better hatch rate... Good luck...

I'm in NE Alabama. My Brinsea humidity is usually around 40% with one tray filled and the vent 1/3 open. During the last three days of incubation, I have both trays filled and use folded paper towels as evaporation pads. With the vent still 1/3 open, the humidity is around 60-65%.
I think the vent setting also effects the humidity reading.
