This will be my first hatch, I received shipped eggs yesterday and have been fighting with these incubators since last night, I accidentally ordered 1 of each kind so I am going to see which one works better. I have the Janoel set at 37.7 C with very little water in it and it is saying its 99.5 F and 60% humidity on my hygrometer/thermometer I bought separately my Brinsea is now cranked up to 101.6 F and is finally reading 99.5 and 53% humidity on the hygrometer/thermometer. Has anyone had issues with uncalibrated incubators? I wont be able to keep my thermometer in the Brinsea once the eggs are in there so I'm nervous it will cook them being set that hot but if I turn it down it goes to 98F set at 99.5.

How much do you trust the accuracy of your thermometer??? and why cant you have it inside the Brinsea?
Put half of your eggs in one, and the other half into other, and hope for the best. :thumbsup

I have both those incubators.
I use them a lot. Trying to calibrate them every time is stressful.

Are you positioning the gauge at egg level to get a reading?

Both incubators have been very accurate for me. Calibrated readings only a couple points off occasionally so i dont fool with raising or lowering temp.

I actually left the janoel at the preset 38c factory setting and had 100% hatch. Ran it dry and humidity was between 30-40% until lockdown then 60-65%.

Brinsea i just set it and forget it adding a tablespoon of water if it dropped below 30% ti lockdown.

I have the Janoel at 37.7C and added a little water today since humidity dropped to 30% I moved my thermometer closer to the middle and I feel like its much more accurate! The Brinsea I am not sure about still I have it set at 100.4 degrees incase it was off, I feel like my thermometer was pretty accurate I tried three different ones and got the same readings on each one. I am going to candle them in a week!

I feel like it is pretty accurate! I tried three different thermometers and they all go the same readings, I split them up, 9 in one and 7 in the other so I am hoping for at least a few to hatch! The brinsea just doesn't have a lot of room, I ended up sticking a thermometer and hygrometer that would go in a reptile environment on the sides, and it is still reading low but I don't want to cook them if its not accurate!

I have Brinsea Ovation 28 and I’ve never had a problem with temperature. I set it to 37.5 and fill one reservoir with water. The turner is set to turn every 45 minutes. Come day 18 I fill both reservoirs. I’ve had awesome hatches. The last round I hatched 18 out of 19 shipped eggs. I checked it yesterday and it seems pretty close so I’m ready for my next round starting tomorrow.

If the Brinsea is that far out I'll eat my hat, the dogs bed and next doors hamster.

People often use cheap Chinese thermometers to declare their highly accurate expensive incubator thermometers wrong! Not sure why, but they do.

Use it for humidity only and trust the incubator, Luke.
