After talking up my Brinsea Mini on a few other posts I woke up this morning to the alarm sounding and discovered it's been losing heat for at least a few hours. I tried resetting it, unplugging it, etc. but the temp just keeps slowly dropping. Going to lose the eggs I just set yesterday, including the sole-surviving egg I won at auction that didn't have a loose air cell and my two surprise eggs I got in a shipping box with my new pullets.

Anyone have this happen, and were you able to fix it yourself?

If not, going to have to send this off to the manufacturer to see if it can be fixed.

Thanks,
:(

My problem with my Octogon 20 - first few hatches PERFECT... I actually had one hatch where everything at lockdown came out.

Then I soon started getting LESS than 50% to hatch.. Someone told me to get a "spot check" thermometer. The incubator was telling me it was at 99.5 but in reality it was at 89.5.

So, now I use the spot check and adjust the temp on top accordingly. It kills me to see that it says I'm at almost at 101 degrees, but the spot check says 99.5.

last hatch 18 of the 19 at lockdown came out.

Hopefully you registered your product within 30 days of purchase, otherwise, you are out of luck.

Sorry about loosing those eggs.

Did you know that the new Hovabator 1588 now comes with a digital display?
That will be my next purchase.

Just fixed the problem -- it was the AC adapter (plug in unit). I found an extra one in our junk drawer, plugged it in and now things seem to be working just fine.

Count us as another with a bad power supply. 11 days old and the temp started jumping all over the place. Plugging and unplugging made little difference.

I've emailed the company, so we'll see what they say.

You'd think for $170 they could at least send the $5 power adapter, not the $1.50 version ;(

My DD's first incubation. She is 12. Hopefully someone's cutting corners hasn't killed her first set of 6 eggs, she was very excited.

We have replaced the adapter with one we had here with the same voltage. Hopefully that will hold until Brinsea decides to send a new adapter or a new unit. I'm thinking ELEVEN DAYS warrants a replacement unit. Who knows what else is wrong with it.
