Brinsea Ovation 56 EX Incubator Pros and Cons

Yes it does.
That’s likely going to be my next purchase. here’s why: I keep 3 thermometers in the racks at egg level. 3 other brands, I have to adjust the thermostat day and night as room temperature changes, and those thermostats are generally around 102-104° to keep anything close to my target temp. The range throughout the racks can be 3° different. The Brinsea keeps all positions measuring within about .1° Of 99.5 and regardless of room temp from 66-74°, does so with vary rare need to adjust thermostat— which sits at 99.5-99.7°.
When I buy another, I wanna see how their humidity control option works.

From the youtube videos I've seen it really makes it easy. Just a tube that you wrap around what they call the pump and stick one end in a jar or glass of water. I watched a video that actually showed how it would drip 1 drop of water at a time onto the top shield and it drips down to the wick. I can hardly wait until we get this thing ordered. Your results now sound a lot better than what I'm getting with my Farm Innovators and my DIY incubator.

The Farm innovators is what I’m going t throw in the holler and replace. Last couple times, I’ve used about 1/4 of its space because it varies so much throughout That only one corner can be kept at a workable temp while the rest is several degrees off.

That's what I've found too. I have 22 eggs in it right now just to see what will happen. They are the first 22 eggs that my hens laid and I have them all placed at the end with the heat source and fan. Today is day 7.

I have the ovation 56 ex, whatever the one with all the features lol. It’s great, however, the motor for the turner moves in its slot and has slipped out of alignment and failed to turn the eggs, I have to check it regularly.

I recently tried to separate the two layers of the lid to clean the dust from in between, and imagine my surprise when I found 2 of the screws were already stripped, I’d never tried to remove them before, so they came that way, and I couldn’t get them out.

The pros are I have excellent hatch rates, it’s easy to use and hassle free, set it and forget it, but I hit the buttons to test turn each day to be sure it’s working properly. The pads they sell for the floor and the sponge things are junk, I’ve never needed a sponge, and if I did I would buy a cheap disposable kitchen sponge and cut it to size instead of buying their pricey paper mesh sponges. The hatch pads are just cardboard, I traced the sample one they included onto shelf liner and I reuse it each time, I never even used the cardboard one they gave you.

since my first hatch where I had to cull days old chicks for splay leg, I’ve used shelf liner in every incubator for every hatch. (Had it ready for that one, but they started on day 15, had heads stuck in racks, etc…. I decided to act fast instead of smart.)
