Brisnea Thermometer - Not accurate?

Personally I wouldn't run it hot for the remainder, temps too hot are much more damaging than temps too cold. You'll just have to watch them closely and see when they start to pip, or play it by ear and move them when you think they'll be ready. I really don't think being cooler at this stage would have killed them, but it might cause some deformities.

I wonder if you should take the eggs out of the bator while you are stabilizing it? I have read that cooling the eggs in the early parts of incubation will make them go dormant, and they'll just kick right back in when they get back up to temp? Just a thought (which I'm sure will cause a stir

I've heard the same thing. The Brisnea is excellent at holding temps and stabilizing, I'm not angry at it, just the thermometer. I'm moving the temps up bit by bit, already have it (by my Flucker) where its supposed to be and holding steady.

So either my Flucker is wrong and I'm going to cook some eggs, or the Flucker is right and we have a chance. Or in between, who knows.

Stupid stupid Brisnea thermometer.

Thank you guys, I'm a bit calmer now and not so inclined to throw eggs at the wall. For now anyways!

Shelley: Would take them in a heartbeat if I had another incubator. Unfortunatly my very old Brower needs a new thermostat and my LG fell apart. I don't want to give up on these eggs yet so I wouldn't be able to do anything with the ones you offered me.

I also need to buy a nice coon trap . . .

You said you have the clay in the bator, right? Just use a regular oral thermometer to test the temp of that, and then you'll see if the other thermos are working properly.

I totally disagree. Running cooler temperature causes late hatch, pipping and dying and crooked legs to name few. I have been hatching eggs for 40 years with 30 different incubators and i know for a fact that birds will hatch at hotter temps. They may hatch early but will hatch clean. In this case she is behind and they will catch up at a little hooter temp. I have had to do this more than once and i know it works. Quail eggs are a little more delicate than chicken but i think this would help. I have hatched thousands of quail.
