Does anyone have the British variety of araucana? I'm looking for the version that looks much like our American ameraucana. It has a tail, muff, beard, and a crest. I'd be open to any color and even a mixed breed, especially if it has the crest. Thanks! Meara

Are you from the UK, or just looking for Easter Eggers similar to such in America?

I'm here in the U.S. I haven't been able to find any Easter Eggers with the crests. Overseas it's considered a purebred but I know that the standards here aren't written that way so it seems like hardly anyone has them. I was chasing down a lead in Wisconsin, but apparently that flock doesn't exist anymore

Well, such is true. There are people in the US who prefer the British (and New Zealand and Australian) type too. . . The most I can say is, if you want, I'm working on a little project in which my F1 birds are half bearded Polish, half Ameraucana - I can offer you some hatching eggs. The F1 offspring will be crested, bearded, and lay sky blue eggs. The Ameraucana parents lay very, very rich blue eggs, so the offspring are giving a nice sky blue color.

Basically you'll get a good 'mockery' of UK Araucanas.

OH my goodness!! These sound awsome!!! I would never have thought of this cross but I'am kiinda new to the chickens I bought abator and I'am loveing it!!

Oh Illia those sound promising. I'll send you a PM. Thanks! I had considered various crosses, but was not sure which of the crested breeds would be the best choice.

Polish are the best choice in terms of wanting a gauranteed crested chick from the outcrossed offspring. Houdans and Crevecoeurs are best when you want a chick with decent size and amount of meat, however, most out there are NOT as big and meaty as they should be, but instead the same as Polish except with a smaller crest.

Sultans are another choice, but they add feathered legs which some don't like, inward bent hocks which I don't like, and a very small crest as well as extremely limited color choice.
