Brody hen question

One chick with a hen will probably do better than one chick alone in a brooder.

But if you have chicks of slightly different ages, then brooding them together is also an option to keep them from being alone. Up to a week difference in age is usually fine, one they're a few days or a week old they may be fine with chicks up to 2-3 weeks different in age.

You are talking about chicks out of an incubator without a broody?

Raising chicks alone is not good.
Chicks/chickens need company. But you can’t put chicks and chickens together after chicks hatched from an incubator. Unless you are lucky with a broody and it wotks to change a eggs for chicks overnight. But do watch in the morning if the hen accepts the chicks.

Thank you for your concern. I have given the broody the one bantam egg that probably is hers anyway and because someone mentioned it growing up as an only child, I gave the broody an araucana egg today. So there will be two chicks by this coming Tuesday hatched by the broody. I will have the other araucana eggs hatch in the incubator and brood them inside.😊

Great if this will work as you hope. Because not all eggs hatch. :fl
