Broke down and bought 2 today

My 3 eggs aren't really showing any signs of development when candled so being rather discouraged I went and bought 2 chicks at the local feed store... To raise my spirits...

I did the SAME THING when my FIRST ATTEMPT at incubating (in a home-made incubator) failed.

Except I bought SIXTEEN chicks.

Will try incubating AGAIN this Spring (in 2 Little Giant incubators).

IF I succeed, I'll need to SELL some chicks or chickens.

I did the same thing last week. My broody was sitting on several eggs, but only one of hers, and that was the only one I was going to keep. So I went ahead and bought a silkie for her to keep in case that one didn't hatch. I am glad I did, because it didn't hatch.

So how can you tell if they are roos or hens?

Those are 2 very cute fuzzy butts! Enjoy. Sometimes a hatch doesn't go as planned. Maybe next time, you will have a little more luck.
