So my hen (since march) has been laying broken and mended eggs. Her eggs get qute large and are bigger than my Easter egger hens eggs (shes bigger than the hen laying the odd eggs). I read these are caused by disturbances during calcification, but can she be disturbed for every day since march?? Any thoughts?

Are you feeding your girls oyster shells? Sounds like she needs more calcium for the shells. You don't want her to get one stuck in her ova track.

I came here looking for some wisdom regarding "broken and mended" eggs. Like the original poster, my hens too, get oyster shell and crushed eggshells. I haven't identified which hen yet, but it's happened for 3 days in a row, same shape egg, and same jumbo size. Does anyone have some experience with this? Internet sources just say "stress during calcification". But 3 days in a row...and the original poster's hen did it for months. I certainly don't want one to break inside.
