Broken back toenail, possibly getting infected

I have a rooster and just yesterday we found that one of his back toes was bloody and assumed he somehow broke it. We cleaned off a bit of the blood and the bleeding seemed to stop. We put neo on the toe but my mistake was not wrapping it up assuming since his back toe wouldn't get dirty and thus less likely to get infection. But today I checked on him and while he seems to be walking fine his toe where the toenail should be looks the tiniest bit swollen and maybe infected. Since it's very small and I'm still observing him what should I do in the meantime?

I had several roos loose toe tips to frost bite a few years back. I sprayed the area with Blukote to stop the bleeding and put a little triple antibiotic on it when they'd allow me, and they all healed up just fine. When it was all said and done, the new toe tip was a little larger than the toe behind the tip... probably a build up of scar tissue. Every so often they'd get in a row and break the area open and it would bleed some, but again, some Blukote and it would heal right back up.

Good luck with your boy!
