Hi! My Rhode Island Red somehow broke the tip of her beak today. No clue how or when it happened just noticed as I was trying to integrate her into my flock at bedtime on the roosts. Needless to say that’s waiting, she’s back in the brooder box with the other two until her beak is better. I didn’t notice any blood; not sure on her ability to eat she was fine an hour before but I’ll keep an eye to make sure she can eat. Do I just let it heal? Is this normal to happen? Never happened with my other 7.

I've never dealt with this but I do know that factory farms practice cauterizing beaks to keep them from pecking one another. From what I understand they cut off about a third of the top break half. Now, I would never do that or suggest it's practice, BUT knowing that I would say she should be fine. Maybe you could either actually remove the broken piece altogether or if you wanted to maybe super glue it back together? Not sure you need to but it is just a thought.

Again never done either and personally I would probably just wait and watch.
