I went out to open the coop door and let the chickens out to free range and I had two hens in the same nesting box. I took a pic just because it was so funny.... I have three other boxes but all eight girls lay in the same one. Upon looking at the pic closely in the house I noticed my buff Orpington has a severely split beak. I looked at the chicken girls instructions but don’t think they will work for her. What should I do. There isn’t a vet for chickens near me that I’m aware of.

I would put her by herself for now till someone gives an answer. Just to make sure the split does not accidentally gets any bigger or snag on anything.

I found this:
https://www.tillysnest.com/2011/12/how-to-fix-broken-beak-html/

" With the emery board, I slowly and methodically filed away the rough jagged edges. These were my firsts concern. I blended them as best I could and softened their sharpness. Next, I repaired the front of the beak into a softer point following the natural line of her beak. I wiped it clean. Lastly, where the beak had split in the middle, I placed a thin layer of Krazy glue. This was the hardest part. I had to hold her still until it dried."

Please keep us updated on her recovery. Best of luck

Poor thing, it's split pretty good. You need a helper, but I would try to repair it per
The Chicken Chick instructions. Maybe start fairly high to try to keep it from splitting more. I would not try to file it until it's "stabilized".

At this time, I would only give her wet mash to eat so she is not pecking at pellets or crumbles which can further split the beak. Hard boiled egg makes a nice treat, so hand feed her that (mine will peck the bowl clean if I give eggs:)).

Ok I’m gonna go out and get her but I’ll have to wait til my husband gets home to help me fix it. I don’t think I can do it by myself.
