Hi! I have a Light Brahma who broke a few blood feathers on her foot. The bleeding has stopped but I have been reading it is best to just pull out broken blood feathers because they will jut keep bleeding and continue to be soar. One thread had a link in it on the how and why to do this, but the link was no longer good. I read to take pliers or tweezers and slowly pull the feathers out....my concern is there are at least three blood feathers broken and I know they are really hurting her as she was holding her foot up the last time I saw her and I hope she would cooperate. So should I pull them or just let Mother Nature do her thing and leave them be?

i would pull them out personaly

best way is to wrap hen in towel to control her a bit more

use aniseptic to clean area and pliers first and putt slowly

once removed clean again and wrap for a day or 2 in gauze

What type of antiseptic would be best to use on the pliers and on my girl?

any sort that is food safe should be fine or ones used for cuts and grazes
