Hello,

This newborn chick seems to have been born with a broken or deformed leg. You can rotate it fully forward, or backwards. Does anyone have any ideas on how to help fix her? (Unfortunately a Vet is not an option.)

Thanks for any advice (and sorry for the horrible vertical video!)

I had a barred rock chick I hatched out back about 4 ish years ago . She was completely fine until one day her leg started doing that same thing and then within a week she was immobile and her legs were stuck like she was doing a split and she couldn’t do anything I tried my best to save her even took her to my vet , they had no answers finally we made the decision to put her down due to her quality of life was going to be terrible . She was a sweet girl . Hopefully your baby will be okay and maybe it’s just a genetically with her or some injury she got somehow best of luck I hope someone can help

Sorry about your chick. I cannot tell from the video if she has a slipped tendon, leg bone deformity, or an injury. It also might have a dislocated hip. Chick vitamins including riboflavin (B2) are good to try for awhile. Splinting may or may not help. Here are some links to read that might help:
