I have a Pekin that was grabbed by something through their fence. There was a pile of wing feathers outside the fence and it appears the duck's wing is broken. She is foraging normally and walking around with the rest of the flock. Should I let her be? What do I do?

I would try and wrap it close to the body in the best position you can get it in. Pekins don't fly. They don't need full use of their wings to survive or get around. You do want it to heal comfortably and minimize pain however. Hopefully others can give you some pointers. Keep her somewhere quiet and calm for a few days in case the attack is causing stress or other injuries you can't see.

I want to share a picture of my duck in hopes it will help you feel better and stress less. I was told before I adopted her that she had a broken wing (or maybe angel wing), but that it didn't bother her. It's true. She acts just like the other ducks. She is healed. Her wing looks a little different, but no one picks on her and it doesn't bother her and she is healthy and lays me an egg a day.

You can see Ellie's right wing can't fold completely flat against her body. She can still stretch it out and flap it though.

Welcome to BYC!

A vet would be best, but if that's not an option you need to catch her and give her a thorough exam. If something grabbed her there is a good chance she has wounds and if left untreated the wound could get infected and flystrike (maggots in wound). The wound(s) need to be cleaned.

This explains how to deal with avian fractures:

Thanks everyone for your help! I wrapped around the body but then she was off balance and I didn't want her to get too hot. It's really hot and humid here. So I just wrapped the wing now. I tried cleaning it, hopefully clean enough....there is a pretty bad open wound. Hopefully she'll keep the bandage on.

With mine, I clean them with chlorhexidine or betadine and I strongly suggest you do that. Can you post some pictures of it?
