On Sunday, my best RIR hen layer tried to lay an egg but had problems releasing the entire egg with shell. I noticed egg yoke down her leg, along with egg shell on her body. It is possible that shell could be lodged inside her. I don;t know.
She is still eating and pooping, but has yet to lay an egg. Before the incident, she was laying eggs consistently, only missing a day here and there.
How worried should I be? She has gone into the coup and tried to lay an egg everyday but with no luck. I'm afraid she is slowly going to get sicker....
Any ideas? Is she egg bound? Or is she recovering from the trauma Sunday and that this could be normal?
Any advice would be so much appreciated. We just started with chickens about one month ago so I'm trying to learn and understand as much as possible,
